In the mountain path, Mega Man will meet Guts Man before fighting against Heat Man. Mega Man is then saved by Guts Man, and Mega Man can battle Heat Man again. If the player loses against Heat Man, the defeated Mega Man falls to the ground as Heat Man laughs triumphantly- although he ends up being interrupted partway through by his lid falling on his head. Choosing the river will lead to a battle against Bubble Man, and the mountain to Heat Man. After Metal Man's defeat, the player must decide if Mega Man will proceed by a river or a mountain, being the only choice to affect a boss encounter. Heat Man and other fifteen robots are rebuilt by Ra Moon in the Lanfront Ruins, and Heat Man is one of the second bosses from the game. The timing that he charges is variable, so it's a matter of reacting to his animations in order to dodge it. He stops where the player was and returns to normal. After a short time, he will charge forward in an atomic burst, doing a ton of damage. When Heat Man gets hit, he ignites himself in flames, making himself temporarily invincible. To dodge, the player must do a short hop over the low one at far range, or simply walk away if they are close to Heat Man. The strength he throws them is based on player proximity. If left alone, he stands still and can throw a trio of three fireballs (this being his variation of the Atomic Fire), each in slightly different trajectories, and they will temporarily erupt into small flames upon touching the ground. Heat Man is one of the easiest bosses in the game. Defeating him will grant the player his Atomic Fire weapon. Heat Man is designed to be highly resistant to sources of heat, including fire and magma, and has a dial in his back that regulates the power of his flames, which few are aware of. His body has a box-like shape which resembles a Zippo lighter, with a lid that Heat Man can use to retract his head into for additional protection, but it can sometimes close down onto him unintentionally.
